Description
A lockable access panel with a plasterboard door, for walls and ceilings where the panel should all but disappear. The door and the beaded frame are taped and skimmed with the surrounding surface, leaving only a fine shadow line around the door. From the Profab PRIMA 1000 Series.
Benefits
- Plasterboard faced door for a near invisible finish once decorated
- Concealed budget lock supplied with a white cap
- Suitable for vertical (wall) or horizontal (ceiling) access
- Door lifts off its pivot hinge for fitting and replacement
Construction
- 1.2 mm electro-galvanised mild steel frame with beaded edge
- 1.2 mm steel door tray holding 9.5 mm standard plasterboard
- Concealed budget lock operated with an 8 mm T-bar key (included)
- Frame powder coated matt white, RAL 9010
- Overall depth 55 mm
Performance
- Not fire rated
- For internal use only, in areas of normal humidity
Frame
Beaded frame (BF): a simulated drywall edge bead profile, for panels installed before tape and jointing or skim coat plastering, so the plaster finishes right up to the door.
Size specification
- All dimensions are in mm, and the size (X x Y) is the outside rear frame size
- Doors hinge along dimension Y, so rectangular panels hinge on the long side
- Structural opening required: (X + 5) x (Y + 5), for example 605 x 605 mm for a 600 x 600 mm panel
- Panels are made to size and cannot be cut down
Sizes available
| Size (outside frame) | Structural opening | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| 200 x 200 mm | 205 x 205 mm | 2.24 kg |
| 300 x 300 mm | 305 x 305 mm | 4.31 kg |
| 450 x 450 mm | 455 x 455 mm | 7.58 kg |
| 550 x 550 mm | 555 x 555 mm | 9.96 kg |
Operation
Remove the white cap from the door face, insert the supplied 8 mm T-bar key into the keyhole, turn to unlatch and pull the door open. The door sits on a concealed pivot hinge and lifts off for fitting or replacement.
Installation
Openings in dry lined walls and ceilings must be properly formed and supported to take the weight of the panel and the forces of opening and closing. Fix with at least No. 6 steel plasterboard screws into plasterboard, or M6 steel anchors into masonry. Full fixing details are in the installation instructions below.
